Founded in 1882, Timnath is a small agricultural/farming community located southeast of Fort Collins, approximately one-half mile east of I-25 at Harmony Road.Although the town has remained unchanged in recent decades, the growth of Fort Collins has been favorable to development in this little town.Several new home neighborhoods surround the town including a new elementary school and an 18-hole golf course community that is home to the Colorado State University golf team.Timnath schools are a part of the Poudre School district. There are two elementary schools, Timnath Elementary and Bethke Elementary that opened in 2008. Junior High students attend Kinard Core Knowledge Junior High or Preston Junior High and High School students attended Fossil Ridge High School. The population is about 1,200 residents. Timnath will soon become home to Costco. If today the town is mainly a bedroom community, it will soon become the next hot spot in Northern Colorado and revitalizing downtown is part of the strategic plan.
