The town of Firestone was established in 1908. According to the Green Light on the Tipple, a book by Eleanor H. Ayer that highlights the history of the area, Firestone can claim perhaps more firsts than many of its neighbors. It had the first saloon, first post office and the first lumber store in the area.
Money Magazine recently listed Firestone as one of America’s “Best Places to Live,” and the sleepy community has also gained recognition for its fabulous network of park and recreation areas. Firestone’s more than 10,000 residents have access to 18 parks and five miles of trails, which connect to the St. Vrain Legacy Trail as well as the Front Range Trail System. The city is also home to in St. Vrain State Park, where there’s excellent fishing, camping and hiking.
